I had a great time taking this shot. The snow was almost knee deep. Gary let me out of the Jeep and I waded through the field, to get to the water. I slipped and slided down to the water but it was great. We got over 20 inches of snow this weekend.

The Lady Monarch

Butterflies truly amaze me. They are so delicate and their colors are glorious. This picture was taken at Brookeside Gardens, located in Maryland. My husband Gary who is also an amazing photographer, introduced me to the Gardens last summer. The Butterflies are from all over the world. You can walk around and they land right on you. I took so many photos. I use their colors to help me design jewelry.

The Pink Lady

I photographed this Lotus at the Aquatic Garden in Washington DC. One of my favorite places . You have to imagine fields of these ,about four feet tall, They are so beautiful and serene dancing in the gentile breezes of summer.
Hi,
My name is Valerie Gillis,
I started taking pictures in the 70's, I'm giving away my age. I have always enjoyed shooting nature, flowers, and animals, not to much a people person. Photographers generally are not. But I can't speak for everyone, just me. I love landscapes, waterfalls and trees. My camera of choice is Nikon D90. I grew up with a Cannon AE1, man I loved that camera, my brother found one for me out west. I treasure it. Well this is my first post to this blog. I will be posting some of my pictures soon. Stay tune!
